Kristiansund, Dale.
WB Norwegen, Art.Gr. Kristiansund, H.K.B. Nordtlandet 4/976, 4x8,8cm Flak.
This battery is located east of Kristiansund near the small village of Dale. When you enter the town, follow the only main road till you reach a construction site. The battery is located below the cliffs on a small peninsula.
The battery is beautiful; nicely integrated bunkers in the rocks, extraordinary camouflage on the fire-control bunker and loads of original wooden parts. The battery, four emplacements for 8,8cm Flak, has a direct view at the entrance of the harbour of Kristiansund. The battery is of light construction and there are no ST bunkers. The Germans have made a large underground system in the rocks, presumably to store ammunition. The site is completed by a small landing stage, several stone wall living quarters, a huge barrack foundation and several Vf bunkers for various purposes. This battery is one of the most beautiful and interesting places we have visited in our Norway trip. The amount of bunkers that is built on a relatively small space is very special.
